Roadside Poetry is made possible by support from the Fergus Area College Foundation
The mission of The Roadside Poetry Project is to celebrate the personal pulse of poetry in the public landscape.
"Whoever you are,
no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself
to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting,
over and over announcing
your place in the family of things."
Poet Mary Oliver

Poetry Submission Guidelines
THEMES:
Each month a new poem will be posted. Because the poems will be posted in the outdoors, we are primarily interested in poetry reflective of the season, the landscape, and the natural world. We do not accept poems that convey political messages, religious proclamations, community commentary, or consumer sentiments.
FORMAT:
Each Roadside Poem is displayed on a series of four signs spaced 50 feet apart. Each sign conveys one line of verse. In order for a poem to "fit" the parameters of the project, it must be written in four lines, with each line containing no more than 20 characters (including spaces). Poems submitted by individuals 10 years of age or older must be typed.
U.S. POSTAL SUBMISSION:
The Roadside Poetry Project accepts poetry submissions via the U.S. postal service. Please include your name, mailing address, telephone number, your four-line poem, and the season(s) for which the poem was written. Send your poem to:

E-MAIL SUBMISSION:
The Roadside Poetry Project accepts e-mail submissions. Send only one poem per e-mail. List the season(s) for which the poem was written in the e-mail subject line. When e-mailing your poem, please include your name, telephone number, e-mail address, and mailing address. To submit a poem via e-mail, click on the Roadside Poetry logo below.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE:
Due to the many submissions we expect to receive, we cannot notify poets that their poetry submission has been received. However, we will contact you if your poem is selected for posting.
PUBLICITY AGREEMENT:
Poets whose poems are selected for posting must agree to lend their name and poem to the Roadside Poetry Project for publicity purposes, including press coverage, public relations, reproductions, archives, and publication in electronic, print, and audio-visual formats.
